I'm wrapping up summer with two new 36" x 48" paintings on the easel and a sweet small painting completed. Secrets of the Tides is heading to NYC for a prestigious exhibit of figurative art at the venerable Salmagundi Club, and Dance of the Pelicans is flying off to the Loveland Museum in Colorado. And my Birthday Print Sale is here!
I was thrilled to see that the Salmagundi Club used my painting image on their website to announce the exhibit! There is a reception on September 19, which I will try to attend.
The Loveland Museum exhibition is organized by AWA - American Women Artists. The 25 in 25 Initiative (25 museum shows in 25 years) was launched to highlight the work of its members and inspire dialogue about the importance of gender equity in museum exhibitions. A beautiful color catalogue is published with each of these shows.
If you haven't made the trip to the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA yet, the show inspired by Gauguin's famous painting, Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?, is up until September 1. My panoramic painting, The Procession of Hope and Feathers, is on prominent display there. At the Danforth Art Museum in Framingham, MA, Soliloquy, from my Costa Rica series, is included in the prestigious 2024 Annual Juried Exhibition, running to September 22. Listen to me talk about Soliloquy!
NEW! A Day of Perfect Clarity, pictured here and only 12" x 24", gave me a welcome break after finishing my last large-scale painting, Fly Me to the Moon. In the transcendent glow of a pink full moon, a young woman sits perched on a stone wall, her posture relaxed yet filled with an unspoken longing. The boundary between reality and dreams dissolves in this moment, leaving only the essence of pure, unclouded vision.
Looking further ahead, the online exhibit Stillness will open October 1. Organized by 33 Contemporary Gallery in Miami on Artsy.net, this one features my 12" square painting Hope and Feathers. There is a print and online catalogue published with this show.
Now, a birthday treat! During August, my birthday month, use the coupon code AUGUST10 when you purchase an archival, signed, editioned print on my website. You will receive 10% off, and I always provide free shipping.
I also have just a few artists' proofs left at $145 (and you get another 10% off!), so browse through the collections and see if there is something that speaks to you.
I hope your plans include relaxation over the long Labor Day Weekend. I'm thinking about hanging out in my gardens (which have been spectacular this summer), processing a ton of our heirloom tomatoes, picking some bouquets, visiting a museum, and maybe starting a new book.
Cheers!
Linda
